A Thousand Words & The Righteous Brothers
A selection of pix from the private viewing at The Truman Brewery in East London on Thursday 27th November

Hello, Abi Dailies
I’m not a taking-loads-of-photos person, but here’s a selection of sweaty photos from the brilliant private viewing of some of the portraits painted by the remarkable Jake Fern and art by The Righteous Brothers.
I am honoured that Jake painted me. I was really moved when I first saw it, hanging on the white wall. Me, the flawed, curly-chopped, difficult, funny, unsure, unequivocal, grateful Abi Roberts.
I see so much of my family in my face: My late mum as a little girl, my grandma, my sister and the blue of my dad’s eyes. As TheJules described it, ‘there is a 1930s melancholy’.
I was accompanied by my good pal Jonny Woodrow and his daughter Hope. It was a really excellent evening full of fizz, hugs, optimism, flirting, eye-rolling (natch), but mostly an overwhelming feeling that creating art, whether its painting, books, stand-up, clothing or music is the way to rebel against and stop the tide of cuntery that seeks to collectivise and dehumanise.
And then they said NO.
Have a great weekend, you crazy, beautiful buggers.
Be seeing you.

ABI!!!! That painting is phenomenal.
To all people reading this - never, ever change your face. Your ancestors live on in your face.
That is quite an arresting portrait - and a very good work of art in its own right.
