I also still feel distant from my usual home routine since my lovely holiday in the South West.I find myself less and less interested in social media and alternative media. No more doom and gloom for me, so I'm spending less and less time listening to pods too, apart from yours of course.I'm unsubscribing from a number of people.

Another great POD Abi. We are currently in Majorca and I was listening to you getting ready to go out. Hubby said she's good is she on every day? Looks like you have another follower.

Not an historian (not an ‘expert’!) but what does seem different between now and the past - the modern history books at least - is we’ve been encouraged to see war as something mostly waged between individual countries rather than an apparently globally coordinated attack by governments on their own people (certainly in supposed liberal democracies); something conducted openly and, mostly, eventually resolved, rather than being denied in plain sight indefinitely.

An excellent observation, Louise. I have always thought it curious that Douglas Murray, for instance, never wrote an extra chapter in his book War on the West entitled The West’s War on its own peoples. I guess as an ‘expert’ you have to have beeeeen therrrrre 😁

That Cockley accent reminded my of a guy how grinds down ULEZ cameras on TIK TOK. Have some of that. As for walking I have started walking to get some fat off, you might think I was eating too much and lazy but no. As a bodybuder without steroids its hard to ballance calorie intake because too little I lost my lifting power. I'm not sacrificing a bit of bulk to finally flatten that gut. Not sure how much you know about sports science but when doing endurance exercises you also burn protein in the muscles. So dieting is not so simple when you need to conserve muscles. Look up Man V Horse race Wales because part of that is a good walk that is one of the places I use.

I say again - many of the bastard classes have studied philosophy which includes journalists (Farltey - Spewer) and politicians. They, as in Blair, claim to be religious - so I rather think it depends on whose philosophy you follow and how you use your knowledge in public life. The school of life is more important than following teachings of the long since deceased. During tough times it is comforting to read that famous historical figures have thought similar thoughts but ultimately we have to be arbiters of our own minds and actions.

Our own instincts when discerning between truth and conspiracies against the people should play a large part in our take on events. Most people don't want to believe their leaders would be part of a cabal who simply do not care about them. They find it too negative and distressing, whereas some of us look at the arguments and wonder why those in authority don't simply answer questions categorically one way or the other without defensive, dismissive bluster. If it looks like a rat, smells like a rat and squeaks like a rat... you guessed it.
