Abi, your tales of booze related incidents are so reminiscent of my life😂
“Not all men have bollocks” made me laugh, in reference to Neil Oliver being a wimp after Jon Gaunt’s attack on you. Guys be more of a Mark Steyn than a Neil Oliver. Mark has a better dress sense too!
I owe you an apology Abi. Whilst waiting for the event to start I had consumed more alcohol than is advisable (for my age). Consequently, observing your arrival I stood up (after telling my companion -"it's Abi Roberts") shouted "Hello Abi" like you were my best friend, you looked a little embarrassed.
Well, I behaved like a 61 year old fan girl and I am sorry & a little embarrassed.
Another hilarious podcast Abi. I nearly spilt my cup of tea especially when you described falling backward like a tree! Neil is a gentle soul but there is a fire raging behind those eyes. I wish he had defended you though when that idiot gaunt behaved like a thug towards you.
I would chose Vincent Van Gogh as my specialist subject, I have loved his work since I was 16.
I think I must be the only one here who's never got drunk. Am I missing out he he!
My specialist subject on mastermind would have to be Harry Potter! Read them so many times to my kids and watched the films numerous times, my son has an encyclopaedic brain and knows even more details than I do! Will try to catch lotus eaters tomorrow. X
Meaningful Wednesday lyrics .. Fields of Gold by Sting .. just beautiful if you have a musical end Abs. They remind me of my darling husband Nick who should still be here, he would be 62 on Saturday. Love every podcast x Suzanne 🤍⭐️
Re Neil Oliver toasting GB news. Can you change a broken system from within? Maybe he thinks you can and it's the right way to go about it. Mattias Desmet suggests that totalitarianism dies on it's own accord (admittedly after potentially eating it's own children in the process). So, if you don't fight it by infiltration, do you run the risk of your children being enslaved and poisoned? Alternatively, do you choose to forge a life on the outside and stop spending time feeding the beast? Are we feeding the beast right now by paying it undue attention? Admittedly, and heaviness aside, you can't beat bravery, humour and a good vent.
🤣🤣🤣🤣 I thought I was the only one who noticed Toby sucking up air and stuttering. It's weird 😕. Can you imagine him and Carol Malone doing a podcast together? 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I think James Delingpole is on another plane when it comes to intelligence and he does NOT suffer fools gladly. I did enjoy the 'podcast' at the Emmanuel Centre, however, in Neil's defence I don't think it was the right forum. I think the conversation would have been far more 'scintillating' and James would have got alot more out of Neil doing it the normal way instead of live. Just my opinion. 🤷♀️
It’s his pretentious pauses too as he says stuff as if he’s about to say something of real weight. It usually turns out to be some thing utterly dreary
Great pod again Abi and great summary on Friday night
Tony Blair the less said about him the better I reckon and Sandi Toksvig she's just got one of those faces you want to punch much like Benjamin Butterworth not that I'm advocating violence of course but I think you get my drift
And my mastermind subject has to be Abba been a big fan for almost fifty years now xx
Hey everyone, I hope you guys are all good, so sorry for my lack of engagement lately, having a bit of a health thing that is knocking the stuffing out of me a bit 🤨
Hello and welcome to all the new peeps 👋 😘
Literally just caught up with last week's Meaningful Wednesday, and just wanted to say what a beautiful poem, and also what Charlotte sent in, well that resonated very much, feel like I said goodbye to the old me 3 years ago!!! Still trying to find the new one, any day now.....🤔😉
Glad you are feeling better this week Abs, this shitshow certainly knocks the stuffing out of you on top of anything else to be dealing with!
Am cracking up about Neil Oliver, and can't get Bette Midler out of my head now 🤣🤣 you are such a tonic when life just keeps throwing more crap at you on a daily basis
Sandy Togsvig ugh..the end 😅
Still get fuming about Jon Gaunt, when you talk about it, I'm totally gobsmacked all over again, Neil was a huge let down not doing or saying anything 😡
The Delingpod sounds great, hope to make one this year, I would have totally been Laura shouting out 'Hello Abi', brilliant 🤣😅
I have no sympathy for any hangovers still lingering 😂😂 I'm just bitter cause my Friday night was extremely boring, my highlight was the tween sleeping in her own 🛌 rock n roll my life is, I tell ya!!
Well, waking up to the Matt Hancock expose by Isobel Oakeshott....not contrived and planned in any way 🤔 if she cared that much about the people she wouldn't have waited all this time, or even helped that murdering bastard with his book in the first place, silly bitch! Sorry thats rude but sick of them all, and Richard Tice, he gives me the willies, gone all cold thinking about him 🤢
On the other hand, the delightful Connor Tomlinson, get a much nicer feeling 🫠😁 ooh er matron as Abi would say 😅 love him, could be my son but is my little secret crush 😉 along with Elenas PE teacher, who is also about 12, well not 12 but you know what I mean 😁 I look forward to tuning in to the Lotus Eaters 👌
Wish me luck for tomorrow guys, have a hospital scan and my friend has told me they are still pushing masks ffs, obv won't be wearing one but cue the difficult conversation 🙄🤨
My specialist subject would probably be Sex and the City, the series not the movies or the awful woke revamp 😒 or The Breakfast Club movie 😊
Love to all, and Happy Meaningful Wednesday y'all ❤
I absolutely agree that Neil Oliver should have said something to Jon Gaunt. I watched that episode and it made for uncomfortable watching. I don't understand why they ever had that horrid man on as a guest as he was just vile and constantly talked over people.
I think the way you were treated by GB News was appalling, but I feel the need to defend Neil Oliver. He has questioned the shit show from way back in early 2020 when it all started. He was then a regular guest on Mike Graham's show on Talk Radio where he regularly called out the nonsense and obviously living under the regime of Nicola Sturgeon, he had plenty to talk about. I agree he is a softly spoken guy, but on his monologues on GB News and his Patreon channel and podcasts, you can see he is disgusted and appalled at what has gone on and is still going on. He is just quietly raging underneath, I think, rather than going the bull at a gate approach.
He has been one of the few who has talked about the shit show when so many others have stayed silent. So I absolutely understand that you feel aggrieved as he didn't call out Jon Gaunt and he definitely should have, but i feel extremely grateful to him for his regular slot on Talk Radio during the first lockdown because I was seriously struggling to deal with it all and when he spoke, he was saying my thoughts and definitely spoke for many other people too xx
Great Pod.
The whole Neil Oliver segment had us howling,u were spot on. Looking forward to the lotus eaters and your thoughts on the evil Tony B Liar.
I had forgotten about the crematorium 😂
How weird and drafty was that?! And the guitar playing,it was surreal....all he was doing was just interrupting our chat!
Mr Jules says his specialised subject is conspiracy theories and rabbit holes 2020 - present day 😂
Xx
😂😂😂
"From a Distance" in the style of Neil Oliver on the Stalin purges. Your best yet Abi.
Cheers, Jeff 😁🙏

That’s too funny 😀
Don’t be 🤷♀️👍

Hani, the way I’ve felt the last few days u are not missing out. 😩
Lol!
Hani, I can say from experience that it is safer not to get drunk😂
Evening all,
3rd time round with my comments🙄
Glad you all had a great time, Neil wasn’t very captivating at all. James was hilarious 🤣
Sandy and Hyacinth.... Helicopter please.
My subject for mastermind would be:
Indie bands from the late 80’s/90’s.
My specialist subject on mastermind would have to be Harry Potter! Read them so many times to my kids and watched the films numerous times, my son has an encyclopaedic brain and knows even more details than I do! Will try to catch lotus eaters tomorrow. X

It’s brilliant 😂😂

I have mixed feelings about the podcast.
I absolutely agree that Neil Oliver should have said something to Jon Gaunt. I watched that episode and it made for uncomfortable watching. I don't understand why they ever had that horrid man on as a guest as he was just vile and constantly talked over people.

I’m sad to say that I have no specialist subject for your quiz😂 I will have to sit quietly in the corner with 🍸🍹
