Oh Abi, I really felt your pain reading this and it makes me so sad. Your pod makes me roar with laughter so it's difficult to hear you suffering like this. You have a lot of love coming to you. We just celebrated Orthadox Easter with all it's symbols of new life. Please remember you are loved, best wishes, Theodora xx

Thanks for your kindness, Theodora! Don’t worry, I’m still funny, I just need to let the other stuff out too. I said some prayers at home over the weekend. Much love 🙏

Well, I would say not to feel pressure to be funny but it probably isn't a choice - you just are naturally! (unlike some 'comedians'.)

Don't worry Abi, I do at least 5 illegal things every day before breakfast.

You know what I have been watching?

Don't laugh.

Jerry Springer.

I have been incredibly depressed these past few weeks and thought fuck it I'll turn on the TV.

(OMG Australia now has an entire channel dedicated to Jerry Springer and the Steve Wilkos show).

I watched about 20 hours of it over 2 days and I have not laughed that hard in YEARS. It also got me thinking - imagine if Australia had a Jerry Springer show but 'families torn apart by the vax.' People could scream and throw chairs and act wild. UK would be good as well. You could host is and do your Scouse accents.

Be seeing you x

We did ride the fake Covid storm, we stayed strong, stood by our principles, used our common sense, tried to advise our loved ones. Friends deserted us, family refused to see us, we dealt with the abuse but in the end we are only human. The last 4 years has taken its toll on us ‘conspiracy theorists’, we have lost so much and some times it is just overwhelming. It comes in waves when we least expect it. We all suffer in different ways at different times but we feel your pain Abi because it is also our pain xx

Great article Abi. Who doesn’t love a bit of communo-fascist alliteration in the morning? Jenga grief, there can’t be a better description, it’s sometimes the tiniest of ripples that causes the topple. It’s been a hellish 4 years for those of us who can see….. so many downs and very few ups but we have all proven ourselves to be made of tougher stuff than we think. Hang in there my lovely, one day at a time xx

" It’s been a hellish 4 years for those of us who can see"

Yes. It's awful. But so much less awful when someone else says it has been awful for them too - so, thank you! (from a fellow Scot - born there - then dragged to England aged 3 on what I thought was a "sweetie train" and was very disappointed to find out was just a "sleeping train")

"the tiniest of ripples that causes the topple" Well, yes! “mony a mickle macks a muckle” of course. xxx

I think we’ve all been through the ringer in one way or another…..we probs wouldn’t be here otherwise. Nothing could of prepared me for 2020 and what was to come…….I thought everyone else would catch up in 6 months 😂

Funnily enough, I’m English but moved to Scotland when I was 3!

ha! well they lost me but gained you! (and vice versa for England)

Oh Abs, you always write (and speak) so beautifully and honestly about the stuff of life. Thank you. It touches all of us and really really helps to have this stuff articulated so well and (with such humour, obvs). Warm, sunny days are on their way now after a really fucking loooong winter. Things are looking up. Hang in there chick! Xxx

"Mark my words, there will be collective amnesia about what was said and done to those of us who questioned and railed against the Shit Show™️" yes, I too fear this is so.

Also as the truth dribbles out with twisted justifications (eg the science changed etc) people will just forget they ever thought anything different. They will say things like "yes, everyone knows that". I have seen it first hand for decades. I tell my family (in particular my mother) truths and struggle as the black sheep of 5 sisters in this respect (struggle not because I care about being different but because I cannot bear to see my family and the children of my family being hurt when they only see my protests as a competition about who is 'right' or more 'forward' or more 'clever' or 'well-read'. I don't care about that!! I just want the powers that be to stop hurting them and them complying with that!)

As I said to my mother the other day when she said "Yes everyone knows that" (re BLM being a Marxist organisation): "the trick is to see it at the time - not when horse has already bolted".

I just remember despairing at my sister sending an email in 2020: "My daughters are at the BLM march today - so proud". To be fair I did reply with some info and she said "always willing to learn" - this is why she is the only sister I am still in contact with.

Thanks so much for this Jules. I am mostly relieved to hear that someone else can relate to this, but also sad at the same time. I hope that for you (and me) we can resolve something that works for us all within our families. But it is so hard. I took my mother to Greece recently and spent proper time with her since 2020 (I had avoided family mostly since 2020 but was hoping for some sort of progress in their positions) and it was terrifying! She was a propaganda machine. She just is not the clever, forward-thinking (albeit misguided) woman that raised me. It was shocking. She loves euthanasia (actively asked for it but had never heard of midazolam - loves morphine) ; she said "we need psychopaths in power to make difficult decisions" (she used to be a ban-the-bomb hippie!); and she came out with "people moan about a nanny state but they need it. She said that In Italy they took waist measurements of employees every day until they lost weight and combated obesity that way". ???!!! I said: "that is disgusting! thin people still get ill and they die but even if they didn't...." etc.

BUT...I am grateful because I don't think it will ever matter what I say - she will never stop contact with me. I ended up having to go to the roots of my beliefs (eg questioning viruses and contagion theory). And she is someone who has lived her life as a Dr-loving, pharma-loving hypochondriac (she married a Dr - my dad) who regularly refers to her "long covid". I pleaded with her not to think that I was mad. She said "I know what madness looks like and I know you are not mad" which was a massive relief (is this all we can hope for?). Maybe she just thinks I am stupid (despite an IQ measured several times at around 160 and the only one in the family to pass 11+ and to get offered a place at a good Cambs college to study engineering). Later that day she said "people will believe any old rubbish if they see it online". My husband and I said at the exact same time: "Exactly!" People just don't seem to see that it works both ways!! Sorry for the rant Jules! It just isn't getting any easier is it?

Aww Rosie, so very hard, you wouldn’t believe how similar this is to my experience. No it’s not got any easier for sure, the last week has been really rough, grief and the loss of relationships comes in waves, I think I’ve made my peace with it but then wham it floors you again. Nothing will ever be the same again for any of us. Soz that’s not a very cheery post 😩

Thank you for reaching out and letting us know you're ok-ish. This too shall pass, as they say. The last five years have been so challenging and grief takes its toll and floors you from nowhere. Just know that we are here for you, care deeply and love you very much. You don't have to have met someone to have common bonds and real feels. Take all the time you need and if you need to talk you have family here who will listen.

I only watched one season of Mrs Maisel but I imagine it's right up your strasse! Enjoy. Be seeing you, very soon hopefully. Don't forget you have a birthday to celebrate xoxo ❤️

Love this post Abi. Keep Buggering On! I have now had a full 9 days not looking at a single news show or article or social media app. It's been blissful not knowing what the daily pantomime parade is showing.

We watched all 4 seasons of Mrs Maisel - had no idea it was based on Joan Rivers! What a fantastic show... but I strongly disagree, the best character is her father-in-law, Abe. Actually laugh-out-loud scenes :)

You are not alone with your feelings and thoughts , good to take time out one way or another ,I say to people especially in my work “the shit show”has given me PTSD , was like being in a war zone , still is , psychologically overwhelming, but that was/is the plan

So just got to keep rising above , take good care of you in all of it , mentally and physically, to keep strong . Your humour drags many of us out of the darkness, especially the last few years ,

Onwards and upwards abi

Be seeing you 🙏🏻💫❤️

That person (probably a woman) who moaned to Abi (she read out her comment on this May 2nd 50min prog) - This Moaning Minnie (or should be Moaning Millie) that no simple stalking case has resulted in prison recently.

She was on our jury case last year.

She moans wistfully (and wrongly) that No Simple Stalking case (see the PSY- OP of Miri AF) has resulted in prison recently. - She was very influential when she was recently on our jury last year.

That no one has been to prison recently on a simple stalking case is a lie to begin with for a start + obviously inaccuratedisinformation/misinformation for a tart.

Hippocratic Oath only exists inside the public imagination. (Not only in the substack authors USA.) It’s been continually watered down since 1960s.

Thanks Abi for the Mrs M tip. I had buzzed over to Joan the minute she was allowed on British TV. Never seen anything like it. There were no female comedians over here that were any good. Maybe Victoria Wood but nobody like Joan! I'm depressed constantly Abi, but recently I've had an amazing discovery to lift my spirits and that is the Brueneverse. Also does a conspiracy bunker. His film More than Me will make you cry and laugh at the exact same time 😊
