You’ve reminded me of a time, I think it was The Queen hosting G7 leaders at the Eden Project. Amongst our dear world leaders there was not a single mask between them, but every waiter/waitress pouring drinks and offering canapés wore one as did every fawning photographer. It was like watching a dystopian Upstairs Downstairs. The symbolism was nauseating.
I so wish I was going with you! Might make fora very heavy suitcase. One place I would really love to go. Have a brilliant time. Report back on what biometrics and facial scanning they have at the airport. My daughters art teacher is South African, she says there is this trippy art centre in the mountains but I think it might be far from you.
You always summarise the moral dilemmas we face so brilliantly. It gives me enormous strength to know there are people like you willing to speak out and never give up.
Hi Abs I was so excited for you when I got your email about SA! Honestly I had the best January this year out there you’ll feel like a new woman. Blue sky, hot sun, fine foods and wine and wonderful people. We stayed with family too - my daughter in law Sinead born in Dublin was brought up in SA so she’s a saffie really. We stayed with her Dad Kieron in Cape Town he’s wintering there, but always worked out in Africa lifelong, and then her Mum Mandy lives permanently in joburg. We had quite a crowd as Kieron’s sisters came over from Sligo too. A great day out is Groot Constantia wine farm, in fact we did 3 vineyards in one day - I have this photo of me stood amongst the vines with arms up to the heavens like Mother Theresa 🤣.. too much wine I’d say. Kalk Bay is lovely too we had a delightful day there. I’m so excited for you I hope you have the best time. Love as always, safe travels xx 🇿🇦🦁🐆
Ps sunset over table mountain it blows your mind every time you see it, there’s almost a green flash as the sun seems to drop into the sea. It’s currently a balmy 27c in Cape Town today just perfect xx
Also just started watching Yellowstone last week, been bingeing on it like crazy, and am almost at the end of the latest session already. Just my sort of thing too. Hope you have the most wonderful holiday.
I share your disbelieve and huge frustration that people do not see the moral aspect of Covid. It's like living amongst fucking retards these days. All these scams are written down in black and white but STILL they refuse to see it. My drinking got out of control in 2020 but that was ok because "I'll stop when people get it" - 18 months I thought, bit more maybe but here we are at 5 fucking years. Recently cut down a lot - hard but I won't get to enjoy the awakening at this rate (if it ever happens). Christ, do I hate mask wearers.

Have a fabulous time in South Africa! 😊 💖
The soon-to-be-visited Susterbond recommends watching 'American Primeval'. It's got hunky cowboys, determined wahmen & stunning scenery. Happy travels, Abi.
