Really good TNT show today Abi with Joey Barton. Joey is so spot on about women commentating on men’s football. Those women are worse than useless with their banal commentary. I never liked Joey Barton when he played football, he was an absolute animal on the football field, a dirty bastard tbh.
A good footballer who can speak a lot of sense and is not, by any means, stupid; the problem is he loses his temper more than he ever did the ball. Honestly, whenever I hear most female commentators on either football or cricket my first thought is 'who let that boy talk inanely about those games.' Johnners, Truman et al must be turning in their graves. I try to avoid watching any knee benders now but used to like watching England ladies and the female commentary - Horses (or Nags) for courses. I also agree with him about tennis; both sexes can admire sporting prowess and physical attractiveness - it's called nature. The divide and rule paradigm is meant to get us angry with each other and makes us come out with a few Trumpisms, so please excuse me as I don't believe women nag........and I never lie.
Hello Abi. I've just come across a beautiful vocal and string setting (by Donna McKevitt) of Rilke's 'Go to the limits of your longing'. I heard it on Private Passions (Mark Cousins, film director) (Radio 3) at about 19' 50". It's tender and uplifting. I thought you may like to hear it. ('God speaks to each of us as he makes us then walks with us silently out of the night. These are the words we dimly hear: ' that's Rilke's preface to the poem...). Thank you for your podcast. Great TNT show this morning. Whilst I may have my differences with some of Joey's previous escapades what he said today was spot on. I really like watching football but can't abide the female commentators. If they picked ones that actually were any good it might be OK but it seems they just select on how many virtue signalling boxes they can tick.
It would be difficult to find a senior business person, or politician, who isn't a narcissist and belongs (or belonged) to a secret society. Trump might be illuminati but I don't think Biden is bright enough.
