I read Miri's latest missive and thought it very good. I have never felt comfortable with Doc Malik. There is something about him I have never liked. I haven't been able to put my finger on it but Miri's article and how he treated her (including plagiarising her questions) has confirmed it's not just me.
I live in Australia, on the Northern Beaches north of Sydney. I have a friend Rosemary Marshall who does the “Forest of the Fallen” every weekend mostly on a beach, she has a4 posters on sticks and stands them up in the sand. Rosemary has done a podcast with Jacqui Deevoy, Doc Malik wants to do one with her when she visits the UK next month, having read Miris article and listened to you this morning I am now concerned, I don’t know if I should warn her to approach with caution

Reading your comment Penny took me back to many years ago when I lived in Australia, firstly in Manly and then I moved to Rose Bay. Dr Malik seems to have a big audience for his podcasts so I’m sure it will be positive in that sense for your friend Rosemary. At least if she is forewarned about Malik then she can be prepared.

Listening in work today and they were talking about whooping cough with children dying and nobody trusting vaccines anymore. One of the girls said its all down to social media cranks. This girls daughter is now pregnant and said she's going to make sure she up to date with her vaccines. You actually couldn't make this shit up. It's tragic. She calls the government corrupt but is OK with vaccines. I seriously need to find another job.
Bloody hell Abi. I read Miri’s article with real sadness, and to hear your experience with Malik is upsetting. It’s unrealistic to expect everyone on our side to be wonderful - some will be amazing, some will be assholes &/or narcissists and everyone in between. We all have our own traumas, wounds and cognitive biases, that’s human nature. Yes we do need discernment- Sukharit Bhakti will always trump John Campbell, always no ifs no buts for me. I had never heard of Doc Malik until I heard him on the Delingpod and I thought he communicated powerfully. What a disappointment.
Abi, I clearly remember your distress last year over a conversation with a gas lighting ‘doctor’ . I think it prompted you to go away even? To think it was the Malik - you nailed it when you likened the behaviour to the publicly charming sociopath coercive controller.
And he does have an annoying voice.
So true about trauma - Bowen therapy is great for releasing emotional and physical trauma and is really gentle.
Wow I subscribe and listen to Malik because of his guests but the Andrew Bridgen one made me squirm. I do feel he turns a lot of the conversation to himself and I have recently been put off when his children have asked to be paid for appearing on his podcasts. Apples don't fall far from the tree. I find that attitude in young kids very disconcerting as obviously their parents are providing and should be grateful for such. Call me old fashioned! Maybe they are all exploitative! So sad to hear of your and Miri's experience of him. Thank you for the heads up xx
Wow Abi, I never realised that your contact with Malik was so awful. Something about Malik has always made me feel quite uneasy and as time has gone on he really has shown himself to be a narcissist. When people say mean, horrible, nasty things to us those words seem to stay with us much longer than kind words do. You are such a kind, caring soul Abi. You of all people do not deserve to be treated in this way by Malik.
I used to rate Malik and have listened to many of his podcasts. Not anymore. I wonder if he would behave like this towards a man? And the way he comes across on his pod...all empathetic, deeply caring and outraged at other people's bad behaviour! Fucking hell 🤦😡
Thank you, Abi, for a powerful pod. I read Miri's Malik/Bridgen piece with interest. I always love her take on things. So I looked out Malik's interview with AB on Rumble. Blow me down, Malik has inserted a preface crediting Miri and Jonathan Tilt for the material on which the interview was based. Did he put that in *after* he read what Miri had written about him? Sneaky. Anyway, I could only cope with 20 minutes of the interview as Malik said he was "playing Devil's advocate"! Just playing, eh? It looked like a love-fest so I switched off. Keep up the great feisty work. God bless.
I didn't take to him when he was talking to/at Bridgen recently. The one when Bridgen declared we are already at war with Russia, they just haven't told us yet. I assumed we were anyway but still worrying. Bird flu scam and war incoming - both manufactured to immiserate people further.
I made one comment on Malik’s Substack and he’s blocked me from the channel! And it was a very tame comment. Says it all really, a fragile sociopath who can’t stand any scrutiny.

Agreed he comes across as me me me working class brown man from Glasgow etc etc etc. I don’t like him and never have.

No, to be fair, the preface was in the podcast before Miri had published her piece. But the whole interview still stinks!
