I remember when we first managed to get mum home out of hospital and rescued her from the “don’t care home” i was helping look after her going daily and after i had my diagnosis every day there and back i played “Praying for Time” in my car sometimes in tears….. i had an extra 6 months with her now i am praying for time again for myself🙏🏻
I’ve loved going back to vinyl. It feels like rebellion. It’s real, it’s tangible, you have ownership. Not just a few tunes in the ether to ‘stream.’ My defiance against all things ‘digital’ if you will.
Took my daughter vinyl shopping to our local market shop, she’s been listening to Mamma Mia a lot lately and one of her favourite tracks is slipping through my fingers.
If it isn’t this then she’s been playing the music from swan lake as she said it’s an amazing piece of work.
My daughter has just turned 18 and on the record buying trip last week she chose three classic music albums of Mozart, Chopin plus one that was a mixture.
She shocked me most when she picked an Elvis and Neil Diamond album along with soundtrack from the sound of music and west side story. It’s actually strange hearing this stuff played instead of the usual dross that most teenage girls fawn over these days.
As I’m an 80’s gal I love myself a bit of a mix that helped me stay sane watching on YouTube, these include Erasure, Tears for Fears, Depeche Mode, Spandau Ballet, Go West, Kim Wilde and I can’t help but stand and sing Midge Ure’s If I was anywhere I might be out when it comes on.
I can't say any particular thing got me through that was different to my usual music genre and I worked throughout but, my fight song while trying to keep my job without vaccination would be Uprising by Muse. It's particularly fitting:
Paranoia is in bloom
The PR transmissions will resume
They'll try to push drugs that keep us all dumbed down
And hope that we will never see the truth around
(So come on)
Another promise, another scene
Another packaged lie to keep us trapped in greed
And all the green belts wrapped around our minds
And endless red tape to keep the truth confined
(So come on)
They will not force us
They will stop degrading us
They will not control us
We will be victorious
(So come on)
Interchanging mind control
Come, let the revolution take its toll
If you could flick the switch and open your third eye
I came across Luke Bryan last September by pure chance. I’ve never really been into country music but his music is more country/rock. I play his hits loudly and dance around the lounge, usually with a glass or two of Prosecco. His music makes me happy ……at least temporarily.
It really does, its great having the physical copies all the artwork etc, even my kids love em now. Plus it helps if you have a good system to play them on we have a Technics set up.
When we went on the most bollocks ski holiday ever to the wild, wet and windy Glencoe with our unvaccinated friends, our sport was arguing with the mask-nazi manager and our holiday anthem was Vance Joy - Hold the Line.
Been listening to a lot of “new” music on soundcloud. Loving stuff my son has introduced me to - beans on toast, but I still love the old 80s tunes. Takes me back to the days when I felt free! Girls just wanna have fun!
No pod missed. I’ve got a dodgey voice after singing/drinking/smoking so I’m having a breather and writing instead. Hope you had a glorious time in Rhodes with your boy ❤️
Revisited dozens of DJ mixes from the 90s on YouTube, the only thing it’s good for. Even got back in to old school drum n bass which my eldest has discovered at uni. Strange world 😂
I’d also recommend a quick blast of the Long Good Friday soundtrack, and the Get Carter soundtrack (which includes some cracking spoken lines from the film to practice your regional accents to!)
A bit of Disco, played loud, does it for me when I'm in need of a good blow out. Tina Charles and the Nolans get a look in on my playlist. Toe tappingly poptastic mate.
All my music collection has got me through the last 4 yrs and always will do.I have records, tapes and cd's of everything from John Barry to Motorhead, Schubert to Roxy Music, Nick Drake to OMD.....The only real change are the people I used to love, like Bruce Springsteen and Neal Young who I can't stand to listen to anymore!
I really love this thread. It’s like twitter but without the angst. ☺️

That was my marching music early on. Excellent track. So on the money. 🙏
Soul to Soul. Back to life
Choooooooon 🔥
Tom Petty - I wont back down.
By God We'll have our Home Again.
Holyname - Fall On Your Knees
Definitely that Tom Petty song.
Muse - Origin of symmetry
Black Sabbath - paranoid (any of the first 5 are magnificent)
System of a Down - Toxicity (so relevant even now)
Rainbow - Rising
Marvin Gaye - what’s going on
David Bowie - Hunky Dory
I could go on and on and on….
Hope you’re well, flower x
Excellently eclectic x
Currently revisiting Simply Red's music. Happier times and great music.
Money’s Too Tight and Something Got Me Started are my SR ear worms
I love Simply Red’s music

I can't listen to modern music anymore.
They all sold out, all pushed the vax, banned the unjabbed from their concerts and are murderers.
I listen to Handel's Messiah.
Handel’s Messiah is sublime. I often listen to Comfort Ye into Every Valley. Joyous.
Johnny cash , haddaway what is love, also my favourite Elvis if I can dream, xx
Great choices. I loved a blast of What is Love when I was on the marches.
Love my vinyls🎶🎶
The music just sounds so different on vinyl doesn't it. Nothing better than cranking up the volume on a weekend and annoying the neighbours 🤭

My music taste is pretty eclectic so I'm always listening to something (currently Kate Bush) and can't think of anything specific that got me through.
However whenever I was feeling pissed off at the world, particularly at the sleeping sheeple letting it all happen, nothing beats a bit of loud metal.
People=Shit by Slipknot is a good example.
Plus Wake up by Rage against the machine (even though in reality they were disappointing pharma/mandate shills, more Rage for the machine).🤘🤬

Will of the People’ by Muse. The whole album.
I respectfully suggest a tune I wrote during the nonsense 3 years ago.

Will take a listen. Thank you x
Have I missed a pod ? Been away in Rhodes Abu I hope you had the most amazing party, sorry I couldn’t be there xx ❤️
No pod missed. I’ve got a dodgey voice after singing/drinking/smoking so I’m having a breather and writing instead. Hope you had a glorious time in Rhodes with your boy ❤️

😁🙏
Soundtracks to “Layer Cake” and “Black Hawk Down”.
“Best of Bond”.
Plus “In a time lapse” (Ludovico Einaudi)
😉🤗
Layer Cake is a cracking film and fab soundtrack.
I’d also recommend a quick blast of the Long Good Friday soundtrack, and the Get Carter soundtrack (which includes some cracking spoken lines from the film to practice your regional accents to!)
Roger Whittaker
Rocky I-IV sound track
Natch 😁❤️
Anything by Embrace or Oasis...
my music mixes have stopped me going over the edge - https://www.mixcloud.com/Gardener/
Thanks for sharing these Shane. Music has often stopped me spiralling 🙏❤️
Killing Joke Pssych
Nothing with lyrics. A great find was Herman Beeftink, this piece in particular https://youtu.be/zuy-1_3ThA0?si=2au7T_AIOp7tE9mb

A song from the depths of the 1930s depression, taken from an obscure radio comedy show called Mirth Parade.
