Those five points are chilling, thank you for sharing this.

I’ve definitely sensed, since you introduced me to Fr Alexander and I’ve been reading his books and the biography, that he was inadvertently giving us a blueprint to work from with coping mechanisms built in and it’s all there for us to use. History does indeed rhyme.

Thinking too about the dissident poets like Anna Akhmatova and Mandelstam, and the composers, the writers, the artists who all found ways of saying the unsayable in the most restricting of circumstances. I’m not sure any of us expected to find ourselves there right now but we do need to look out for them and laud them. Sadly the mainstream world of publishing has been well and truly captured by woke but hopefully there will be smaller independent presses working hard on our behalf.

Shout out for Douglas Murray too. He’s picked up the baton in territory he understands and can argue cogently. I completely understand why he didn’t over Covid…he’s not a medic…they’d have slaughtered him ever thereafter.

Keep up with your writing Abi and make sure it’s kept in hard copy too, not just digital. I once did an event with a lovely Oxford literature professor (they do exist!) and he said what he’d give to have the voice and writing of the ordinary people from earlier centuries, but we have next to nothing.

PS All hail to Mary (Oliver) too!
